WARNING FOR BOOBS, GOODNESS GRACIOUS!~

It's acrylic on a 4x2 canvas.

It's great, everyone either really really likes this painting, or really really hates it, man.

I actually painted over [link] to make this. It just wasn't going in any direction at all, and I needed a big canvas for the challenge I was presented with.


I called it 'Slice of Cake,' because Cheescake is (or used to be) synonymous with Pinup. But this isn't a traditional cheesecake... more like birthday cake. Or a cupcake.

Cannot believe this isn't already in my favourites. I wake up face to face with it every morning, and I'm still not bored of it.

Having close access to this painting, I've studied it quite a few times, and this photo really doesn't do it justice. Seriously, anyone reading this has to trust me, that this painting is five times more amazing in person. On top of all the awkward-looking-goggly-eyed-girl-who-is-sexy stuff, and how that conflicts with so many people, this painting is just incredibly layered, in terms of thickness and texture.

Amanda painted onto it VERY thickly in places, so it's very textured and you can feel the bumps of thick paint. All the pink bits at the top dripping down are so dense on the canvas. It's incredible.

I really hope you find the time to do more with her soon, as this undoubtedly my favourite of all your paintings.

I think it's the eyes that probably cause some people to feel a bit uneasy. It creates that unsettling stare you get with some people who actually do ware glasses that do that to thier eyes. Couple that with her being naked, and it causes the viewer to feel uncomfortable about the image; they're not quite sure how to feel about it, because images of a naked women in art are usually depicted in a sort of "soft sexy feel. The subjects will usually have a very pleasant expression that kind of puts the viewer in a state of ease. (Usually.) In this case, the subject's expression is a little hard to follow, because of the glasses are sort of hinding her expression. you can't quite tell if the subject is intending to be sexy, or if she is scared and in a state of shock, like someone off scene has her in a vulnerable position. So that may be why most of them whent with being "disgusted".

Personally I rather like it. It's because of all those aspects about it, is what makes it such a great piece to look at.
In a weird way, I like that she looks a little demented. The little detail of her chewing on a strand of her hair adds to that; you're not quite sure what she's thinking.

Sorry for the long comment, but sometimes some pieces really hit me in a way that I have to really lay down all the details on why I like it.

I was looking at this when my 3 year old daughter was standing right next to me and this was our conversation about the piece...

Her:"Mommy... Her bellies ripped!"
Me: "Oh no honey, that's just the line from her muscle."
Her:" Oh.... so she's naked?"

I just thought it was cute. ^_^ Very creepy cool

Yes indeed. And my daughter still insists that her bellies ripped. Heh it's kinda cute trying to hear her explain why. ^_^
